This is a sample of the type of letter your MLA and Alberta's Minister of Resource Development have been receiving from groups trying to save the wolves!!!
Dear (MLA or Minister) ___________________ Are you aware that hunters and trappers in Alberta are killing wolves a few metres from the boundaries of Banff National Park and Peter Lougheed Provincial Park? On Sept. 22, 2000, the alpha female of the Peter Lougheed pack was killed by an elk hunter. She had six pups. The pack has since completely disappeared. With the recent death of two wolves from the Bow Valley pack, wolves in the central rocky mountains are in peril. The protected areas in the parks are insufficient to maintain a healthy population of wolves. In order to feed themselves, wolves must spend time outside of protected areas. When they cross the park boundaries, hunters and trappers are killing them. Albertans are counting on you to make changes to our hunting laws that will end this senseless slaughter. I look forward to your response on creating a 50 km buffer zone around protected areas where wolves cannot be hunted.
Sincerely,
__________________________ Your Name (sign above)
